Trip Itinerary & Timeline
Arrival in Leh – Acclimatization & Leh Town Walk
Day 1Fly into Leh (3,500 m). Transfer to hotel. Mandatory full rest for altitude acclimatization. Evening gentle walk through Leh Market, Main Bazaar, and Leh Palace viewpoint. Overnight in Leh.
Leh Monasteries – Shanti Stupa, Thiksey & Hemis
Day 2Acclimatization sightseeing: Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Thiksey 12-storey monastery, and Hemis Monastery (Ladakh's largest, with precious thangka paintings). Sindhu Ghat at sunset. Overnight in Leh.
Leh → Nubra Valley via Khardung La (5,359 m)
Day 3Cross Khardung La (world's highest motorable pass). Descend into Nubra Valley. Visit Diskit Monastery. Sunset Bactrian camel safari in Hunder sand dunes. Overnight in Hunder/Diskit.
Nubra Valley – Turtuk Border Village (Balti Culture)
Day 4Drive 90 km to Turtuk — the northernmost village accessible to Indian tourists, a former Pakistani territory given to India in the 1971 war. Explore the unique Balti architecture, apricot orchards, and the fascinating Turtuk Museum with medieval Balti heritage artifacts. Return to Nubra Valley for overnight.
Nubra → Pangong Lake via Shyok River (Drive: 130 km)
Day 5Drive the spectacular Shyok River Valley route past Agham, Durbuk, and Tangtse to arrive at iconic Pangong Tso Lake. Witness the lake changing colours through the afternoon. Overnight at lakeside camp.
Pangong → Leh via Chang La (5,360 m)
Day 6Sunrise at Pangong Lake. Drive back to Leh via Chang La (world's 3rd highest motorable pass). Stop at Druk White Lotus School (the 3 Idiots school). Overnight in Leh.
Leh – Magnetic Hill, Sangam & Departure
Day 7Morning Gurudwara Pathar Sahib. Magnetic Hill optical illusion stop. Sangam confluence of Indus and Zanskar rivers. Transfer to Leh Airport for departure. Tour concludes.
