Expedition Overview
Roopkund is one of the most legendary high-altitude expeditions in Uttarakhand. The trail climbs from dense oak woods through the vast green grasslands of Ali & Bedni Bugyal, before ascending rocky moraines and snow to the mystical high-altitude glacial lake situated at 15,696 ft in the lap of Mt. Trishul (7,120m).

Detailed Expedition Itinerary
Kathgodam / Rishikesh to Lohajung Basecamp (7,600 ft)
10 hours scenic drive through Garhwal valleys to Lohajung village.
Lohajung to Didna Village (8,000 ft / 8 km)
Descend to Neel Ganga river and climb to the traditional village of Didna.
Didna to Ali Bugyal & Bedni Bugyal (11,500 ft / 10 km)
Climb through oak canopies onto the colossal green meadows of Ali and Bedni Bugyal.
Bedni Bugyal to Patar Nachauni (12,700 ft / 7 km)
Ascend past Ghora Lotani ridge with panoramic views of Trishul and Chaukhamba.
Patar Nachauni to Bhagwabasa (14,100 ft / 5 km)
Climb via Kalu Vinayak temple to the high stone-shelter campsite of Bhagwabasa.
Bhagwabasa to Roopkund Summit (15,696 ft) & Back to Bedni
Early 4:00 AM snow climb to Roopkund Lake and Junargali; long descent to Bedni.
Bedni Bugyal to Wan Village & Drive to Lohajung (12 km)
Descend through rhododendron forests to Wan village; transfer to Lohajung.
Lohajung to Kathgodam Departure
Return drive to Kathgodam railway station.
